This book is the result of a survey of 526 China adoptive parents that was conducted in 1996 in part through this very FCC website. I am glad to see that the results have been published for all to examine and discuss. The book starts with an overview of Chinese Immigration, the China adoption experience (a nice overview of the process), including the authors personal experiences. The book then moves into a description and discussion of the results of the survey. This section becomes somewhat more academic in style but is quite readable and is interesting to any China adoptive parent. The focus of the book is the process by which the American parents and these children born in China will be dealing with the combination of Chinese culture and their parents American culture. The authors conclude the book with the thought that China adoptive families represent a new phenomenon that will be a facinating story to follow over the years.
I found this book to be quite interesting and thought provoking. It deserves a place on the bookshelf of families that have adopted children from China.
