| Name of Hotel: | Grand Sun City Hotel |
| Comments about Hotel: | Fairly new, 5 stars (Chinese stars), pool was nice but VERY crowded on weekends. Three very good restaurants. Business center with internet access and FAX. Very friendly staff. Very clean for a Chinese hotel though not quite up to the White Swan. Short taxi ride to shopping areas. It is fairly close to one of the orphanages, like walking distance. |
| Office or Orphanage: | Our daughter came in from Hengyang-adoption took place at Ministry of Civil Affairs in other location of Changsha |
| Sights to See in this city: | Provincial Embroidery Research Institute, 2100 year old woman, Orange Island, several Buddhist temples across the river by Hunan Univ. |
| Baby supplies can be purchased at: | Some at hotel arcade, Friendship store 5 minute cab ride, 10 yuan |
| Places to eat we liked: | Hunan Style restaurant was really good. They had a special Singapore buffet in the main restaurant. Special presentation changes every few weeks. They also had a fancier restaurant with live music on traditional Chinese instruments, informal dress but slightly more "exotic" menu...lots of things Americans are definitely not used to eating. |
| Things you ought to know while staying here: | Changsha is very much built up from when we adopted there in October '95! |
