Beijing (Taiwan Hotel)

City: Beijing
Province: Beijing
Month/Year of Travel: February 2000
Travel Route in China:
Name of Hotel: Taiwan Hotel
Comments about Hotel: Our group nicknamed this hotel "Motel 6." They try hard, but the staff is not particularly friendly and the place is a bit grungy. There is only one (!) high chair in the breakfast dining room. Other families reported seeing cockroaches in the bathtub drain---they put a glass over it to ensure the little critter didn't escape into the room. Extremely convenient location in the center of town, very close to Tienanmen Square, Forbidden City, and Wangfujiang Street.
Office or Orphanage:
Sights to See in this city: Forbidden City, Tiananmen, Hutong tours, Bell and Drum towers, etc., etc., etc!
Baby supplies can be purchased at: Wangfujiang Street
Places to eat we liked: A decent Japanese restaurant on the first floor charges too much for their food. If you're homesick, there's a McDonald's and a Starbucks on the same block.
Things you ought to know while staying here: Hot water provided in thermoses. Hairdryers may be obtained for two-hour intervals by calling Housekeeping. The tenth floor is newly renovated and is the cleanest.
