Web Pages for FCC Chapters

Updated September 19, 1996

Since the FCC web page was started, it has been paid for by the FCC/NY chapter. Recently, I have realized that there is a way to spread that expense amongst all the FCC groups around the country, and provide a separate web page for every FCC chapter that wants one.

The idea is that any FCC chapter that would like a web page hosted on the FCC site can have their own page, with an address like www.fwcc.org/SanFrancisco, or similar name, for an annual fee of $30. This will allows all the FCC groups to:

The main FCC web page used to have a list of all the activities put on by the various chapters, but it turned out to be impossible to maintain. By providing separate pages for all the FCC chapters, each chapter will be able to maintain their own web page. Here is a very simple template page; you can probably think of other things to put on the page.

Here is how the process will work. First, send an annual payment of $30 to

		FCC New York
		C/O Tim Stoenner Treasurer
		116 Lafayette Avenue
		Brooklyn N.Y. 11217
		(email DWARK9@aol.com)

Then, the FCC/NY treasurer will email me that your chapter has paid for space on the FCC site. I will then email you a template page that you can use to fill in chapter events, chapter contact information, etc. You are not constrained to use the format that I send; you can redesign it any way that you like. It must contain the "go back" button at the bottom of the page that links back to the main FCC home page, but other than that, there are no design constraints.

Add whatever content you like to the template, or design your own page. Then email me the .html file and I will upload it to the FCC page. The text files should be sent as plain ascii. Graphics files must be in GIF format and can be "zip" compressed (PC) or "binhexed" (Mac); I should be able to handle either format. Once I get your content pages, I'll put it on the FCC main site and add a link to your page through the chapter contacts page.

Legalisms: The content of the FCC chapter pages is subject to review and removal if you post outrageous material. This was discussed at some length before a decision was made to offer space to individual FCC chapters. Please use good sense! A little thinking about what you post should forestall all problems.
